Can someone please tell me if this Remington 1100 is built on a 16 ga. frame or a 12 ga. frame? Thank you. Also, anyone know the weight of such a shotgun?

I own a Remington 1100 - 16 gauge, built in 1978 with a 28" barrel. It weighs 7 lbs. 8 oz.. I use this shotgun for most of my hunting and a fair amount of Sporting Clays.

The newer 16 gauge 1100's are a few ounces heavier than the older guns because of the barrel wall thickness and the addition of Remchokes.

The 1100's were never built on a true 16 gauge receiver. If you shoot a 12 gauge 1100 well, you will shoot the 16 gauge 1100 well.

Personally I despise light, short shotguns. If you are looking for slim and petite this ain't the shotgun for you.

I have been told that the 12 ga. 1100's were actually scaled off of the 16 ga. 11-48 frame and that a 12 ga. 11-48 has a bigger frame than a 12 ga. 1100.

16’s are built on a 12 gauge receiver.

That it true of 870s. May or may not be true of 1100s. They can use the same stock, right?

Have you seen the prices on 1100's. Especially sub gauges.
