Ok, I found a box of RGLs in the storage room.
(The wife came over and just checked my temperature, she can’t believe I’m parting with any reloading bits. I think she just referenced Smaug under her breath)
PM me your address and I’ll send them out. |

Ok here is where I have got to...
I bought a bag of Claybuster wads. Blue"ish WAA16 copies.
I have a MEC Jr I can borrow.
I use WIN 209's, and Thank God I have those.
I have a little of these to choose from Universal or Clay Dot.
I want 1200 FPS and 1 ounce of my 7.5 shot.
I will now get the hulls and ask you all for the powder weight to use. |

I try to keep things simple and have found Universal Clays does well in 28, 20, and 16 ga's and greatly simplifies loading. I did go to 700X for 12 ga and 410 powder for the .410 reloading. The SG-16 wad seems to me to be the best 1 oz wad and easiest to load with good crimps than any of the wads although for 7/8 oz practice loads, I like the DR-16 wad when I can find them. |

Hi, some great advise here on this forum! here's a link that I think will help out those starting out reloading. IMO, this is excellent advise:
https://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=498334
I do wish you luck, don't get to frustrated (you will!). Things will fall into place and you'll get in the swing of things. Just slow down and take your time. Ask questions and don't be afraid if you screw up (and you will), just sit back and reassess.
Right now, as others have said, finding powder and primers will be a chore.
At this time, Precision Reloading has $7 shipping on 25lb bags of shot. Not bad.
Anyway, best of luck to you and Godspeed!

Here's what I did for a loader: Found very cheap 12 600 Jr. for sale and bought a a 16 ga. conversion set-up. It was a whole lot cheaper than a new loader. |

I do that on almost all my mec’s. Sometimes I just buy parts and build one. Comes out cheaper in the end, unless you need major parts |

I use universal in rem hulls, about 17 gr for trap, I also use it in .40, .38, and .45lc |

I second the suggestion for getting a cheap 12ga MEC and 16ga conversion kit. The kits are getting expensive, but it beat the shipping cost of some of the e-bay units I found.
Good luck and I'd suggest joining the 16ga low pressure group for good advice, safe recipes and tons of them. |

Do I get the reloading info if I join the 16 Society ?
I tried to join and it says membership disabled or something like that.
I don't mind joining if I knew how.
I pretty much interested in one good 1 ounce load running about 1200 FPS and I will be good.
I am digging through my old manuals etc. to good 16 data... |

Good news in the 16 world....
Loader on the way, it's a 12 but it's gonna be a 16
Few more wads were found, few hulls are in the house....
I still need to add a few more wads and hulls but in time that will come....
Found a 16 conversion kit for a low $$
Swapped for a bag of shot size like I want..
Starting a spreadsheet on 16 loads.. I'm finally glad I kept old reloading manuals.
AND FOR THE BONUS ROUND.....
I may have a lead on a neat 16 bore scattergun !!! |
