I want to thank whoever suggested the 7/8 oz. load using 700-X.

I used it today in a 5 Stand League and the load cycled my 1100 very well and while not super cold, the temp was 32 degrees or so. The load has made it easy to keep 1 powder on hand for all my target loads.

I am going to have it tested in both Federal and Cheddite/Winchester hulls. I will post the results, though it will probably be a couple weeks before I send the loads to Precision.

I think it was Skeettx who offered up the data for that load. What a helpful wealth of information that gentleman is.

Here is some Lon had tested in 2013 . I really like the 7/8 oz load .

I would Imagine your are using the Dr wad in a 2/3/4 hull .

Keep use posted.

FN , nice find in the archives !! Mark , I !think you found the gild std for those loads - so love 700X !!Should con't to work your 1100 . My load is just a little less , 14grns powder and 360 grns of shot . Just an oddball I came up with while checking to see what the powder side would drop shot on my bars . As skeet is my main game , I can go as low as stays consistent and make the 11-48 cycle . The 7/8 load should be the Cat's meow !

I am using 16.0 Grains - 700-X and the DR16 in 2 3/4" hulls. Not real happy with the EV's. I need to try Federal 209A primers.

Most of my shotguns pierce Cheddite primers, so for me that isn't an option.

I am going to try 17.0 grains also, but that maybe too hot.....I'd like to see 1250 FPS or a bit higher. These chrono'd 1230 FPS...not a deal breaker though.....just trying to keep the 12 ga. & 16 ga. velocities as close as I can get them.

My go to 16 gauge target load is:

2 3/4" Cheddite hull
Cheddite 209 primer
14 grains 700x powder
Clay Buster AA clone wad
7/8 oz of #7 1/2 or #8 shot
3 pinto beans to achieve a good crimp

This load chronographs at 1233 fps.

I developed it based on a published 1 oz load. I cycles my Auto 5 and performs well for both skeet and sporting clays.
