I need a 16 ga steel shot target load.
I have: Green dot, Red dot, Blue dot, and Steel powder.
And I have every 16 ga wad known to man - including non-toxic.
What I need is the volumetric conversion for lead shot by weight to steel shot by volume - I.e. something like 7/8’s ounce of steel shot by weight equivilates to 1-1/8 ounce of lead shot by volume. |

Approximate volumetric equivalents:
1/2 oz. steel~3/4 oz. lead
5/8 oz. steel~7/8 oz. lead
3/4 oz. steel~ 1+ oz. lead
7/8 oz. steel~ 1 1/4 oz. lead
1 oz. steel~ 1 3/8 oz. lead |

Culot,
Thank you very much for the load recipe you put forth - now to translate from metric to imperial.
RE: powder (Alliant Steel) - I am unable to convert the grams reference to grains, can anybody help out here ?
I do see the muzzle velocity of 1350 FPS
RE: shot, 26 grams of shot converts to 15/16 of an ounce.
So the code to crack is what powder charge of Alliant Steel powder is needed to propel a 15/16th of an ounce load at 1350 FPS ? |

1.60 grams converts to 24.7 grains. |
