went to a gunshow today, vendor mentioned he bought an estate, but a majority of the purchases were missing the bolts / barrels.
One being a Sweet Sixteen missing the barrel, he was asking $450.
So giving it a quick view, it has the front of the guard safety, so that would be a 2-9/16 chamber setup?
Did that have a five round mag or a three round?
Would the cost of modifying to the 2-3/4 chamber be practical ?
All feedback GREATLY appreciated! |

Not all front trigger guard safety guns are short chamber. Believe 47-49 x series are front safety 2 3/4. But if it was, you can still buy 2 1/2 shells from rst by the case. I believe Arts can do conversion less than 300.00 but haven’t asked in a while. In my opinion ribbed barrels are over rated and heavy compared to Matt or plain barrels.
Guy probably sold the old vent rib barrel for 700-1000.
You can buy ribbless on fleabay less than 350.00 if you watch for a while. |

Oh sorry kinda late. If it says sweet sixteen on side of action it must be 2 3/4”. They didn’t say that until 1948. |
