citori lightning, had this gun for a few years and never have shot it they way I hoped when I bought it. I patterned it when I had an adjustable comb installed and was concentrating on the the high/low pattern. sooo patterned it again and at 30 yds the center of mass is about 6 inches to the left. soooo using my portable trap, I gave birds going right a bigger lead, straight on birds, lead a little to the right and birds to the left little or no lead, dust balls. anyone have any insight?

Cast issue most likely, just has stock bent on old sxs for same issue. The other issue may be your mount.

I am sure its me and not the gun, going back to the range and shoot it off a rest, could not do it today, too many other shooters. I shoot an ithaca 37 that fits me better with no problems.

Kennedy756,

More than likely the gun is not fitting you properly and you are not getting a good gun mount. Having owned some nice Browning guns, I have never come across one that had barrel articulation problems. My Brother owns many Browning guns and swears by them, I doubt your gun has articulation problems. Have the gun fit properly for your shooting needs and you should be all right.

all the best,

1. Check master eye, has it changed?

2. Shave the beard.

3. Lose 15 pounds to get a thinner face.

Hope this was helpful Smile

To check for point of impact, shooting off a rest is great to verify the gun is shooting where the aligned beads say it should. The fact that when you stand on your hind legs and shoot at something the pattern is about 6 inches left tells me you have a gun fit problem and need more cast off (stock to the right). The adjustable comb you had installed moved to the right should solve your problem. You can do the Churchill method of mounting the gun without paying any attention to the beads on a 16 yard patterning sheet and then move your comb to the right 1/16" for every 1" the pattern is off to the left of center. That should put you very close to right on. From what you posted, I'd say the adjustable comb needs to go right about 3/16" to 1/4" to allow a centered pattern.

I was just getting ready to adjust the comb laterally when I read your post, thanks, save me a lot of guess work.

The weight thing is a legitimate factor. It doesn't take much to alter gun fit. The most severe example I have seen was a friend who underwent weight loss surgery. By time bird season rolled around he couldn't hit anything. I mentioned that he had adjusted the stock shims on his Benelli for a guy that no longer exists. After refitting, he was back to shooting well.

I had this same problem a couple of years ago 99% of the time I was shooting a little high but 4 to 6” left.Got a lot of good info here and sanding the stock for a little cast off helped a lot.

Gentlemen,

Proper gun fit and gun mount are essential for good gunning, especially in the Grouse woods. Learning how to set up while hunting is the other essential discipline. The more you practice proper gun mount with a correctly fit gun, the more your muscle memory is engrained and your shooting becomes automatic.

The Browning gun is not shooting to the left, unless the barrels have an articulation problem, this is very doubtful with a good Browning gun. Look to your gun fit and gun mount for your problem solving.

all the best,

Pine Creek/Dave
