All my questions are about primers lately wonder way;-)
Hey guys I was looking at the reloading tables and notice that Winchester and CCI primers produce identical pressure and velocities when loaded with the same charge of 700x powder. I was wondering if the same holds true for green dot powder. I have virtually no info with that primer powder combination. If anyone has a load using these components please let me know. Thanks |

700-X, which I use a lot of and have chrono'd any number of loads using, is not particularly primer sensitive with many component combinations.
Even Federal 209A's won't affect 700-X much above how a CCI209 primer will make it perform, especially in straight wall hulls, including Federal Gold Medals.
700-X with any of the US made primers, is easy to ignite, making velocities dependent on powder amounts, rather than how lively the primer is.
I did find that RIO G-1000 primers and 700-X in 1 oz. 12 gauge target loads lag behind Winchester and Federal 209A velocities with 18.5 and 19.5 grain charges.
If I get a chance, I might just compare CCI, Winchester, Federal and RIO primers with a 700-X 7/8 oz. load in 16 gauge.....ONLY from a velocity POV. We have some 70 degree weather coming up this weekend, perfect.
I do have a 16 gauge 700-X 7/8 oz. load at Precision Reloading waiting to be checked for P & V. |

Holland, Michigan? You know Eric Heitman or John Stark? |
