I remember a gentleman on this forum that was making and selling a hull trimmer that was very well received. Do any of you have one you would be willing to part with, or know where I could purchase one? Thank you!

Jbush:
If your handy with a dowl rod, you can make one pretty easy. I got one from the guy that started the post that skeettx posted. It took awhile to get ahold of him and he wasn’t in the best of health at the time. If you want pictures of his or the one I made pm me with email or phone number and I can provide.

There you go. The one I made is out of 5/8 hard wood dowl. I wanted to use a little bigger blade. I cut the slot for the blade with a coping saw(by hand) at an angle. Be careful how far you cut, or you will start over. The blade I used is from an exacto knife and I used plyers to break it to size. The blade should be pretty snug. I then used 2500 psi expoxy. Drilled a hole in each end, one for the shank and one for the bolt to adjust length. The bolt end I used a timesert. ( really good heli- coil). You can buy all the stuff at a hardware store.

If you don’t wanna make one, here is the gaep one. It’s fancy and easier to change blades.

BP has the gaep in stock for like $60. FYI if your doing Winchester AA in 410 you will need a smaller shank.

Jason, send me a pm (I lost your phone number and need that again anyway) and I can give you instructions for an alternate trimming method that is very simple and exceptionally precise. I use a trimming sleeve, a sharp knife, and a 20. ga hull as a mandrel. The best part is that there is no adjustments needed with hulls of differing base wad thicknesses. I have trimmed hundreds of hulls using this simple tool.
