Wow, that would be an expensive dove shoot.
Thanks for posting though. |

I have shot bismuth through a vintage double at dove, enjoyed every trigger pull even at a three shells to a dove kill ration. The gun felt so good.
That said I finally picked a beater model 21 and if steel hurts it, who cares it is a beater
The back ridge maybe be too stiff (pressure//velocity) for some vintage guns. |

The concept of a beater Model 21 is sort of a new one for me.
And those shells are reasonably priced in todays market. Some public managed dove areas now require non toxic shot. |

My best guns are SLEs
I even rate my 21. Behind my Manufrance Ideal 340.
The M21 is one in pretty ratty condition which a shade tree gunsmith slobbered instant blue all over to include the stock wood. I got it for 3k. Mechanically sound, but ugly. It is not in my best tier. |

SLE = Sidelock Ejector
SLNE = Sidelock Non-ejector
BLE = Boxlock Ejector
BLNE = Boxlock Non-ejector |

Let me get this straight:
SLE is an abbreviation for a type of break action gun?
It is not a brand or model, like SKB or SBE?
Do pumps have abbreviations too? |

Correct, types of break action guns not brand/model.
I've never heard of any abbreviation for pumps or semi-autos. |

I ordered a flat of #8s from Backridge. See that they are now offering #6 Bismuth as well. Just wish the hulls were purple instead of red -- but glad otherwise to see another company loading nontoxic ammo for the 16. |

Keep in mind that Winchester announced back in the spring they were bringing a #6 steel load to the market. https://winchester.com/Products/Ammunition/Shotshell?filters=%7B%22ids%22%3A%5B%22%23g-6%22%5D%7D. In the past, major manufacturers only provided #2 and #4 in steel in 16 gauge (so I've had to reload my own #6/7 steel loads all these years for quail/dove/woodcock). Not bismuth of course, but an alternative non-tox for small game hunting in modern shotguns. |
