They seem to be embracing the 28 ga too, even offering 3 in 1 1/16 oz at 1350fps in various shot sizes including the 3/5 mix. |

The seem to be a great ammo company for those wanting/ needing bismuth ammo. I just wish they wouldn't stoop to gimmicks like mixed shot sizes.
Think about it. If a bird is far enough you need the 3's, then the 5's are only taking up space in the payload and you end up with fewer 3's to get the gob done. If a bird is close enough for 5's then why not take advantage of the higher shot count of having only 5's in the load. 3's are actually causing you to have fewer pellets in the pattern.
Then there is the matter of shot stringing: 5's slow down faster than 3's due to a lower sectional density (even though material density is the same). |

I'm glad they added #6. This will be good news for those who hunt chukars or huns in no-tox zones. |

I'm not a fan of duplex loads for the reasons you mentioned, Wyo. |

Agree with Wyochukar. Skip the gimmicks. |

I give the crew at Boss Shotshells a huge amount of credit. They had 16 ga. shells available every time I checked though out the entire ammo madness. And only recently did they raise their prices, by 6% for a case. I am sure their costs must have risen more than that. They could have jacked up their prices right away like most others sellers, but they didn't.
And now they have added more selection in 16 ga.
Way to go! |

They give you something to mull over in the blind when nothing is around to shoot at and all you say is true but sometimes some of us just need a "new thang" to spend our money on.

I love the commitment to 16 gauge ammo. Certainly, the money and demand is in 12 and 20 gauge ammo, yet they continue to grow their line of 16 gauge offerings -- in purple hulls no less.
I picked up some of those BOSS 3/5 duplexes when the 4s I wanted to order were out of stock. Noticing a lot more duplex loads hitting the marketplace -- South Carolina's Migra Ammunition being the latest example in waterfowl loads. |

It is no secret that I like and use the Boss ammo.
However, I do agree with Wyo, not sure about the mixed loads.

I don’t understand the duplex loads nor do I use them. I’m sure it’s more marketing than anything for guys sitting on the fence about what shot size to buy.
Simple solution is, don’t buy them.
I’m sold on the #5 or #4 for 90% of my needs, most of which is ducks over decoys. |

Boss shells are some good loads. I use them in all gauges. |

I went with the 3/5’s for this season, as they were out of the other loads and I didn’t want to risk being empty handed come November. I’ll report back with performance. |
