Can anyone tell me if the 16 gauge is a scaled down version of a 12? The model 12’s are built that way and I’m curious if the 97’s are too. Reno

don't think they are scaled Dave , just a little skinnier barrel . some parts just slimmed to fit the barrel/action . I believe I can get a 12 barrel on the 16 actions , but haven't tried .

Same frame size for the two gauges. As a point of reference, my 26” barrel 16 gauge 97 weighs 7 lbs 9.8 oz, whereas my 26” barrel 16 gauge model 12 weighs 6 lbs 11.5 oz. The 97 is from 1918 and the 12 is from 1940. The 97 feels great until you pick up the 12.
