Hammer Bill - I hunt south and southwest of Gwinn, MI and Gwinn is about 20 miles south of Marquette.

8mm Fan - Good memory and yes it is two sons.

T-Bird, I agree and my setters are like having a good friend in the woods. My setters don't retrieve box turtles, but I had a female GSP that used to bring me turtles frequently and an occasional garter snake and my wife was less than pleased with the snake behavior. That shorthair seemed to enjoy teasing my wife with the garter snakes. She never brought them to me.

Double Vision,
They suspected cancer (growth in bladder and prostate) and he couldn't pass much urine and I believe they told me that leads to a rapid build up of potassium and that causes other issues.
Good Hunting,
Mike

Oh boy, thanks for sharing that. Tougher to lose one like that before its time. Thank goodness you still have a setter to love. Good hunting.

Sorry to hear about Birch, that is tuff. I just got back from 16 days just few miles further West of you. Bird numbers were very good, and happy to report I can still miss birds as well as I ever did. MY son came up for his first ever upland trip and loved it. He shot 6 grouse and 2 wc over my setters in 4 days. May go back up after deer season if snows hold off.

Sorry to hear that about Birch agree that's way too young . My GSP Cooper is that age now and I couldn't bear to lose him. Glad you have great memories of him. Regards Joe

More thanks for all the kind thoughts. I still have Cedar and if I can get the wife on board I am considering another pup. I am hopeful the weather warms a bit so I can get out for some club pheasant. Of late it has been too chilly to enjoy a hunt.

Good Hunting,
Mike
