Well after traipsing to Maine early in October for grouse and then to Montana for Deer and elk I went out today and hunted Vermont today ,cold windy and flurries. I actually shot at and killed a rare Vermont grouse and a limit of Woodcock. Cooper did well although a bit too excited to be out at first. He relocated three times on the grouse so I was happy with his performance woodcock held nice and tight. I did not see any chalk or evidence of a flight like usual. Hunted three small covers I think we had two other woodcocks points. One after I had shot my limit. hope you are all having success and a good time.

Congrats on the grouse and a limit of doodles. Gives motivation to get out there a few more times this season.

Soggy Socks,

Glad you had a good outing in both VT an Me, been real tough here in Pa this year for Grouse and I have only shot one Woodcock, the flight still has not reached us here in Potter County yet. Real weird year for sure, way to much rain thru the spring, summer and now fall. I believe our Grouse population has been effected negatively from it. Was to warm until just the other night and the birds are real spooky, unable to get into gun range, nice watching the dogs point from 50 yards out however.

all the best,

Pine Creek/Dave
L.C. Smith Man

2 fine L.C. Smith double guns and our only Woodcock so far this season.

Thanks Gentlemen it was a fun day. Always nice when the dog works well and your shooting is as well. Joe
