I recently purchased new old stock Remington empty primed 16ga hulls. The product number is 23476. The hulls are ribbed green brass plated steel head Remington Peters head stamp. I have done some research and find the product listed on old Remington brochures, but not able to determine for certain if it is a 209 or 57 primer. With the availability and cost of primers not really wanting to un-prime one to verify. Thought I would check here before going that route. Any help is greatly appreciated.

If they don't fit the 209 win. Or the old 97 primer then probablly they take the old 57 primer if you can find some one that may have some. Bill |

Back in "the old days", we would run a fired 97 size primer into the pockets of 57* cases to enlarge the pocket, then reprime with 97 primers. However, using the old "composite" base wad cases, you need to be careful not to break the base wads. On the other hand, I found some 57* primers a couple years ago at a gun show. A buddy of mine found 300 that a friend gave him. They show-up occasionally. |
