I'll spill my guts a little here by saying that this is the non-ejector 16 from Gulf Coast Guns. I must say I am pleasantly surprised at its condition. Only slightly buggered screws (which I knew about ahead of time). Everything else is excellent original. The dealer was very up front and honest...if anything he under-estimated the condition. It's the first gun for me from this dealer, but likely not the last.
Several of you wanted to know how the deal went and to see some pictures. This may take a couple tries.

You know.....Galazan offers a screw set for that gun, If I'm not mistaken.

When I asked him about more pics showing both sides, he said he would tell his son (who does all the photography) to post some additional pictures. As it turns out, the side you see is supposedly the worst side. Based on my gun, I guess that is true. It looks to me, however, that they just use the standard 4 or 5 pics unless some expresses an interest in seeing more pictures. So if you want more pictures, email him and he will send some.

well done, you fared better than me, what was alledgedly an ejector Smith turned out to be extractor, they had 2 of 'em, and had shipped the ejector gun to a guy who paid for an extractor gun like late last year! Somebody got a sweet deal, so the dealer called to say sorry and all for as he was boxing it up, noticed it was extractor! It was disappointing, as I shopped for quite awhile trying to find the right LIGHT ejector Smith (light Smith? almost an oxymoron, but they can be found in 16 down to close to 6 pounds, usually the ones from the twenties....)

Interesting journey, for sure. Too bad the guy couldn't keep things straight and send you the gun you bought. The weight of these guns is really a mystery. My FW weighs 6lb 12oz (I weighed it a dozen times to see if it was listed in error), yet I have seen many that weigh in the low 6's. The stock density must have a lot to do with it, unless the barrell thickness varies a lot from gun to gun?? I have a Nitro Special that weighs 6lb 6oz, but feels identical to the Elsie. I literally cannot feel the difference.

You betcha! And after closer inspection, the Elsie has a lot more wood in the stock than the Nitro. Probably more metal too. |

I haven't even weighed my Nitro, but it feels like at least 7 pounds, I need to weight it....oink oink, it feels porky.....

I'm not sure if it was this one or one of the others from Gulf Coast Guns. It is, I believe, the nicest Elsie Field that he has recently had. We were also discussing the 16ga ejector, and a 12 ga Field, but had some concerns about cracks in the stock. He since has another 12ga Field that has had the stock refinished, otherwise a pretty good deal.

I just checked the website and the Elsie was NOT listed. There were some kits for Fox. Perfhaps a call to them would confirm.
