I found this locally on Gunbroker, so I went to check it out today.
https://www.gunbroker.com/item/928375366
I offered $1800 but the store owner said no way. Gave big story that the consignee knows what it is worth, bla bla bla.
It is nice, but no box and only two chokes, IC and Mod.
Nice after market recoil pad too, professionally installed. Wood is fantastic. Gun is light too. Still stiff to open. Likely shot very little.
Thanks

I would say the seller is in the ball park. Much more if it was 30 or 32 inch. |

In my opinion, your offer was close to the real value. There’s no way it’s worth the “buy now” price. |

Gunbroker is full of new Citori 16's for $300-$400 less, plus the set of 3 choke tubes and warranty. |

I would say he’s slightly overpriced, but not by much. If I was in the market I would offer $2300 and accept @ $2500.
IMHO, Browning cut some corners with each offering over the years on the 16. I noticed this between my WL and an older GL like this one, and again between the Hunter & my WL. Those older guns tend to be better made, which is where the Citori got it’s reputation. Both my WL & Gr6 have slightly weaker blueing than the older ones. My WL has a couple of rib columns that are slightly off if you look close.
That recoil pad adds practical value. Both of mine have the original stock plate and I am considering pads for both. The Hunter comes with one, or at least the one I bought for my son did.
That wood is beautiful. And there is no discoloration on it at the metal. Lightly used is nice, but unless you are a collector it only means it will be a bit longer before it needs service on the internals. My WL is overdue at ~20 years, but not by much. My Gr6 is still stiff after a few thousand rounds. Chokes are subjective, and can be easily purchased. |

Thanks for the feedback.
In a few weeks if it is still there, I may offer a little more, but not much more.
If the seller isn't motivated, then there isn't much I can do except to pay top price.
I don't want it that bad. It is just nice it was local (free shipping), and it looks just like my 20 gauge.

Seems way high to me too but I dont think of Citoris as collectors but i dont follow them as such. The seller has other Brownings listed too- from the same consignee? The 20 ga Superposed seems more interesting to me but also on the upper range of reasonable. Good luck whatever you do decide but I think time is on your side. |

The wood is nice but it is still a used standard field grade Citori. With new ones selling for around 1700 and Gran Lightenings under 3K, this seem quite over priced. Good luck. |

I bought a nicer one than that for $1600 Canadian last year .You can pick them up for $2000 most times up here. That price on GB is stupid high. |

I agree, time is on my side, and the fact it is a luxury, not a need.
The other two Brownings are from the same consignee.

He’s quite high with the price, I bought basically that same gun locally for $1700 a few months ago. Agreed with others, the older examples are nicer than the new “Hunter” models, and I’d say lighter for whatever reason from the ones Ive handled. |
