What am I doing now??
Starting to assemble a 1946 Piper J-3 Cub -- from its smallest pieces -- there sure are a lot of them!
This is my 1940 Fairchild 24. Cowling is off in preparation for its annual inspection.

For the first time in my life I get to repay my wife of 47 years.
She has helped me thru surgery on my shoulder, many fishing and hunting trips and she is a hell a cook.
Three weeks ago she had L4L5 fusion surgery on her back and I have been nursing
, cooking, dead heading flowers and generally being a home body.
With the long walks with my dog in the morning fetch sessions ( have to go early as it is 103 degrees in Boise today) I am getting in more steps now than on an average hunting day! HA! She is doing VERY good! Not even having to take pain pills!
Lucky.

BWW,
Yup, I have just gone to CT where my wife had some surgery and I took care of her. She is an RN and normally takes care of me and the dogs!! Can't wait for her to get back to ND, but it will be a few weeks before the Doc will let her on an airplane.
Maximum Smoke......OK you get the award for the coolest project!!! Beautiful stuff. |

Me and my 15 y/o nephew loaded his first box of shotshells this evening. I got him a husky 2.5” 12 ga for his recent birthday, so a batch of appropriate shells were in order.
We roll crimped up some 1oz loads with titewad I was lucky to buy off a member of my dog training club.
He’s ready to load more! Will let the process sink in for him and then I’ve got enough hulls for a case of game loads for the upcoming bird season and probably some clays practice this summer.
Next project with him is to open the chokes on the husky and a little pattern work. Trying to get him started out on the right footing. |

fit in? isn't this a 16ga forum?? if I wanted to fit in I'd trash all my 16's and 10's and get a modern black plastic 3.5" semi 12 that eats everything and call it good, fit in? I don't do that very well.
Fun stuff, I grew up listening to stories from my Grandpa and Dad about all the Pike (Blue & Northern) in Lk Erie they used to catch and eat, Pike is what we/they've always called'em.
Now living in MI, fav eaters are Lk MI Browns and Coho.
Fish on!! |

Headed to the Great Northern SXS upcoming this weekend. Would love to see other 16ga fans there as well. I'll be shooting my LC Smith 16's for all but the hammer gun event. The only hammer gun I have is my recently purchased 10ga that is fun with my target loads (3dr-11/8-71/2) |

Out of an abundance of caution, and a smattering of curiosity; sending two strings of the 12ga 2.5" titewad loads to precision for testing.
One string has fiocchi factory primers, second Cheddite. Plan on using the ched's for reloading these hulls, so loaded six of each last night. Packed up and ready to go today. |

Ok, Ok, I drive it out onto the plains (on the few-remaining lonely back-roads here) and listen to the engine as the miles go by. It's a 1968 R/T 440 4-speed car that I've had for a very long time now (26-years). Color is UU-1 Light Blue Metallic, interior is C6B Frost Blue. I wouldn't call it a "survivor" as nearly everything on it has been addressed over the years (I think the seat covers are still original) but it is (nearly) exactly as it was delivered to it's original owner in Bellevue, Nebraska 54-years ago yesterday (the SPD for it was July 5th, 1968).

It's a bit hard on gasoline, and it's gets a little warm inside on summer days here, but... it makes me remember good things when I get to drive it on empty roads. The last vestige of my misspent youth. |
