A brothers neighbor is trying to establish value on a Rem 31. Havent seen pics yet but so far described as a 70% gun. 26 in solid rib maybe stamped skeet. It might have a forearm like this. Any info/help on pricing appreciated.

Agreed. Just using it to show what I think the forearm looks like

Yes, I should have said 16ga. Only linked the GB item for example of the suspected forearm.

Solid ribs are not "rare" though less common than the plain barrels. We need a lot mor information to really even begin to guess on a value. There were 3 1/2 versions of the Model 31, 1931, 1934 (1936 sub variant) and 1941 version. From the introduction to 1936 the Model 31A "Standard" Grade had a checkered stock and slide handle.

During 1937, Remington introduced the Model 31AP "Standard" Grade with a plain stock and ringed slide handle --

and the gun with checkering became the Model 31AC "Standard" Grade --

By 1939, the Model 31AC was gone and the gun with the plain stock and ringed slide handle became the Model 31A "Standard" Grade. Then there were two different Trap Guns, the Skeet Gun, the Hunter Special and the custom shop engraved D "Tornament", E "Expert" and F "Premier" Gades.

Researcher is awesome. Period.

As a data point re: Pricing, is indeed "challenging" in this market.

A few decades ago I picked up a 31T (four digit serial #, likely first year of production). Sadly in 12ga. I couldn't resist @ $250. Vent Rib, quality like I've never seen. And the wood, Oh my Very Happy

The feel of the way it pumps is butter smooth. I'll bet I've only put 5 fired shells through it. Anyway...

Researcher, I was hoping you would respond. Looks like this one definitely has a solid rib and the forearm type like the 12ga one in the GB linked ad. My old gun traders guide and my book of Modern Guns both say the Skeet version came only in 12ga?? This is definitely a 16 with 26in solid rib and stamped skeet on the barrel. With it configured as described,is it possible it was special ordered or are my books wrong saying the skeet version only came in 12g?
By the way, the seller also has a Rem 1100 12 ga 26 inch IC 2 3/4 in plain barrel they want to move. I know 1100s have been going crazy lately but this one is far from mint. It has scratching on one side of the forearm and here and there and some blue wear. Is any functioning 1100 worth $500?

Sounds like it could well be a Model 31 Skeet Gun --

I forgot to mention above that after WW-II there were also the lightweight versions with the "Aeromet" receivers.
