Gentlemen,

Because most 16 gauge gun owner also like 28 gauge double guns to bird hunt with, I am showing this nice L.C. Smith made for Marlin by Zabala in Spain listing on GI. GI listing number 101976482. The gun won the Field & Stream best gun of the year award back in 2007.

I own one of these nice guns, have had no problems with the gun what so ever. The one listed unfortunately is thru Bass Pro/Cabelas in WVa. These guns are nice and go up in cost every year. Asking price is now $3,399.99 at BP/Cabelas. The gun looks to be in unused pristine condition. I am guessing next year this guns asking price will be around $4,000 on the used market. Zabala did a real nice job making this gun for Marlin, unfortunately Marlin had them build a Box Lock with side plates and no Brown Rotary Bolt engineering. Still a darn nice quality modern SXS double gun in 28 gauge.

all the best,

Pine Creek/Dave

Mike,

Got to admit Zabala made quality guns for reasonable money, hated to see them close up, and they were not the only Spain gun manufacturer that closed their doors. The L.C. Smith modern 28 gauge gun is a real nice SXS Box Lock double gun, would not mind owning the .410 they also made for Marlin. I am glad I purchased the gun back in 2007 when they 1st brought the gun into the USA. Field & Stream was right the gun is quite nice, especially for a modern made SXS double gun.

all the best,

No doubt about it they are nice Grouse & Woodcock guns for sure, that function perfectly.

I'm thinking about trying a modern 28 with 1oz loads. Should make a great chukar gun on long 10 mile hikes.

UncleDanFan,

LeFever did build some nice 28 gauge double guns, I have never been able to get my hands on one however. The modern L.C. Smith 28 would be nice for Chukar hunting, she shoots tight pattern that would be great for the longer Chukar shots you might want take.

all the best,

J,
As I said I have never been able to acquire one, or even hold one. Further I see no mention of a 28 gauge in the LeFever book.

all the best,

But for a gun selling for that much money at least they would give you both triggers! Laughing

If that gun is in the Wheeling store, I may just run up and look at it, although I have no interest in buying it. I just picked up a Dickinson Estate 28 ga with 30" barrels, 5 choke tubes, plus Xtended choke tubes in the factory case with hardly a mark on it for $1700 early this summer.

Byron W,

I agree the L.C. Smith modern 28 gauge should have been made with DT also.
More importantly the 28" barrels and the Brown Rotary Bolt also. Marlin limited Zabala severely when contacting for this gun, however its still a nice gun and I have had no problems with it in any way.

all the best,
