My old Remington 11/48 autoloader has been giving me some issues and I've been giving a lot of thought to buying a new Stevens 555 Over/Under in 16ga.
Anyone here have any actual experience with one? I know they're made in Turkey and have aluminum receivers. I don't actually shoot a whole lot these days, so it's not like I'd been shooting it a whole lot. But I do need something more reliable than the ol' 11/48 which I suspect is probably about worn out after 7 decades of use. |

I would be very hesitant to purchase one.
I have seen issues with some of these guns in 12 gauge that are being used by kids in the High School Clay Target League.
In one of the guns, the barrels were not properly regulated and did not shoot to the same point of aim. I told the family to return the gun.
The other gun, had been used for one season. The top lever was already left of center, indicating wear.
As a general rule, there is no such thing as a cheap, high quality over/under shotgun. |

I have never spoken with someone who was happy with their purchase of one. |
