I'm not into fancy...
I have a McAllister canvas coat, tough, waxed with a hood. Hand warmer pockets are warm... front pockets are deep, hold enough shells and don't spill.
There is a suspender option for when it gets too warm.
It turns briars and barbed wire. |

AC,
I have a Browning Gortex Grouse jacket that is some kind of great, has not torn in many years of upland usage, water proof and I love it. Unfortunately Browning no longer offers this Grouse Jacket for sale, they told me it had become too expensive. I understand Dans now carries something like it. I have not priced their Jacket so you will need to go on line and investigate the Goretex jacket and the cost. L.L. Bean had a real nice Upland Goretex coat last year, I do not know if it is still available, all the good Goretex upland coats are getting real hard to find.
all the best,
Pine Creek/Dave

rob,
If your Browning hunting coat is Goretex and AC does not want it, I will purchase the Goretex coat from you. Contact me at pine-creek@live.com

It depends what you want. Do you wear a strap vest or do you want something with orange on it? If you wear a strap look at the Orvis Heritage Field Cot. I have one and it’s been spectacular. If you want 100% waterproof look at the Beretta Thorn Proof. I also have this jacket and it’s also been spectacular. |

Duluth Trading has a wide range of duck cloth jackets very suitable for hunting and shooting. Almost all of them are well under $100. A good shot of scotchgard keeps them dry. I have fallen out of love with Gore Tex, it’s like wearing a shower curtain.

When you get into the $400 US range you can start looking at a Barbour. Well worth the price. |

I never liked any of the coats I purchased over the years. I didn’t like the restriction of movement in a coat. I use a strap vest and in cold or inclement weather I add a pullover and/or a vest under the pullover.
Good Hunting,
