Pretty light auto for sure. I think I prefer my sportsman 58 better than my 48. The 48 seems to rough up the brass rim of my hulls which isn’t ideal due to the value of 16 gauge hulls. It also seems a little more picky about crimps on my reloads that the 58.

Over all nice gun.

I am very pleased to report that today I took possession of a 1963 11-48 in 16 gauge. To my surprise it's a unfired safe queen. I gave in a good deep cleaning and ran everything from light 7/8 to 1 1/8 oz. factory field loads thru it with nary a hiccup. I'm a very happy camper tonight. It has a couple of light safe dings on the stock, other then that it's perfect. Oh,and it is both shucking and recoil that affects me now a days with my beloved 37's. The shucking gets my left elbow and wrist. Some days the recoil really plays heck on my very damaged and arthritic neck.

Good on you! Hoping you shoot it well for a long long time to come!

Of course, since this is the internet, it doesn't really exist until you share pics of it with your 16ga brethren.... Very Happy

Thanks for posting. Check out the retro recoil pad by Kick Killer (Made in USA). I've used it on several guns over the years until I figure out LOP. This time I just may leave it because LOP is perfect and it just looks so right on the old Remington and works very well.
