Many of you are familiar with Les Hovencamp, Diamond Gunsmithing, for work on Ithaca 37's.
Les' family informed folks that he passed away yesterday, Feb 26,2023. Anyone that has a gun there will be contacted regarding disposition details. |

That is very sad to hear. I was afraid of that, he reportedly hasn't answered his phone or emails for a couple of months so was afraid he was ill or worse.
Thanks for the notification Dave. |

He was a truely great gunsmith. Mr. Hovencamp did several jobs for me and all were excellent. No better gunsmith. |

So sad to hear of his passing. Prayers sent for his family to heal. |

Sorry to hear of his passing. He was truly a link to the old Ithaca. I had used him several times when my old guns wouldn't digest steel headed hulls. He also was able to match old barrels with old guns without the overly complicated procedure currently used at Sandusky. He matched a 1939 20 ga. barrel to a 1957 20 ga. for me. As recently as this month I recommended him to another man. His skill at matching old barrels to old guns was an uncommon skill. Gil |
