does anyone build a single barrel with interchangeable chokes like a BT99? I want it for trap, currently I am using a citori lightening, but its getting too heavy in my older years. my Ithaca 37 works great, but its old and too fragile to hold up to the number of shots when shooting 4 rounds of trap every week.

It seems that Stoeger has a cheap version. I would consider an old Ithaca single barrel and have tubes added. They are pretty nice guns and the one I handled was not heavy.

Not certain of new but will share my experience.

Don't try and employ a Savage 219/220 into that role, been there done that, not built for continuous line shooting, wore it out in a couple weeks, more of a camp game getter.

Lefever made a single barrel 16ga Trap model, had the pleasure of borrowing one (heirloom) from a bud, IMO wayyy too light for Trap, 1 line of Trap beat the snot out of me w/1oz'ers might not've finished that 1 line.

Maybe install a 16ga Briley tube in a BT99??

+1 on Greener GP gun if you can find one in 16ga.

Mike I would take one of them Special Trap models with the ventilated rib for £28 , seriously though they must be pretty rare , a few of the start GP guns come up for sale around here , think one for sale locally for £150, my loung brother had one when he was 18 as his first gun , I never could shoot it good but he did good with it out after rabbits with our dad and his Ferrets , that really sharpened your shooting, good times .
Thanks for putting that up Mike .
All the best WJ.

There are a variety of single shot 16ga guns options ranging from the venerable Winchester Model 37 to the single barrel vintage hammer guns that turn up at auctions.

Either could easily have choke tubes installed.

I actually have both, the M37 is my load test gun, and a lovely 1870’s Army Navy Hammergun that weighs barely 5lbs. No choke tubes, but very usable for dog training and preserve birds.

New model A-5 is pretty light. One shell at a time.

Remion 11/48's aren't all that heavy and are very reasonable on GunBroker. Put a pad on one and recoil is decent. I actually went from a Ithaca 37 to one awhile back. Couldn't be happier. I'm 78 with arthritics.

Webley & Scott SB semi-h/less, top-lever might be useful type. Lightweight so may need to fit a pad unless using standard/light loads.

+1 on the new A5. Well under 6#, even the 28" model. Definitely get some recoil mitigation from the action; felt recoil a bit less than my 7# Rem M31.
