I like the Deluxe polychoke on my field guns and was wondering if anyone knows if a regular, non-vented polychoke can be turned into the deluxe model by screwing the deluxe top sleeve onto the existing polychoke threads.
I've used an Ithaca 37 16 successfully on sharptails and huns, even high-flying pigeons using the polychoke to adapt to changing field conditions, and am eyeing a 20ga. with a std. polychoke on it and was thinking about converting this to a deluxe in this way.
Hope someone, perhaps a gunsmith, can help with this question. |

By Deluxe do you mean a vented end ? There are different eras of the polychokes, differentiated by threads per inch.
So to answer your question, yes the ends will interchange (yes I have both for one of my Ithaca 37's). You have to take into account the TPI (threads per inch) otherwise the rest of if is the same.
That is all you need to determine when swapping back and forth between the vented and non-vented ends other than whether it was for a 20, 16 or 12.
There are lots of them on eBay. |
