Where would a guy go to get his Sweet 16 refurbished?
I've heard there is a kit that can be installed which takes care of most of the mechanical stuff but I'm interested in that and having the gun reblued.
Thanks in advance for your wise counsel. |

Try Batchelder's in Grand Rapids, MI. They have a web site. You can find it on Google.
they are currently refurbishing my 16 gauge Nitro Special.

The kit is nothing but springs and friction rings. Very few guns really need that sstuff replaced. Art's is good, so is Midwest.
If you go somewhere else, just make sure that you ask how they do the metal prep. If they use a buffing wheel on the major parts take your gun and walk out. Make that run out.
In addition, make sure you know when your gun was make and choose the right bluing processess (slow rust vrs caustic) to match the factory original color and sheen.

Bald Eagle, you live in Maryland? and you sent your gun to Bachelders in MI? No one closer that you trust? |

Bald,
Thier shop is about 2 miles from the neighborhood I grew up in, and it wouldn't have even occurred to me to think of them....
How do you even know those guys?

I looked around a lot for a good gunsmith and settled on Batchelders. My sister lives in Ada, MI and my parents are in a retirement home in GR. I travel there frequently and took the gun up over Christmas on our annual trek.
I should be finished in March and I plan to make another visit to see my folks then. I'll pick the gun up and bring it back with me.
It saves my having to go through the drill of shipping etc.
