Might pick up a box of the Remington Express in case I make it to ND this season.

With these prices I might go back to a BB gun.

Reloading isn't cheap either. According to the price marked on the shelf the Remington Express are $21.96/25; $.88 each. Checking Precision hulls are$12/100, $.12/ea, figuring five loadings = $.03/load plus primer $.10; powder 30 grains @$52/lb = $.22; wad $.03; shot 1 1/8 oz @$60/lb = $.17; price per reload = $.55. A savings of 38% is significant, but the ammo for a 100 shot round of sporting clays would be $55. Actually it would be a little less if you are shooting target loads- but still, not like the cost of just a few years ago.

Up until the ammo shortage in the pandemic, I used to stop at every Walmart I drove by on my way to Maine every fall and bought most of the 16 gauge rounds they had. My rule was if they had a lot, I never bought them all. Only 1-2 boxes, then they are mine. 3-4, I'd buy 2. 5-6, I'd buy 4. I doubt I paid more than $5-6 a box.

I still have a lot of 16 gauge factory ammo, including 2-3 remaining cases of RGL's I bought at Dick's maybe 15 or more years ago, back when you could get a case for under $40 and they'd take another off 10% because you were buying 10 or more boxes.

No deals at Walmart these days either, but I keep at eye out for sales when they come around at Fleet Farm.

Those Super X are 15.43 a box. I don't think that's a terrible deal. Those hulls are good to reload. The days of 5-6 are long gone. Matter of fact you better get all those at 15.43 a box you can because in June/July I bet they will go up again.
