Would 15 grains of green dot, Federal hulls, Dr16 wads be a safe starting load? |

Yes you can start with 15.0 grains of Green Dot, but that is going to be fairly anemic.
This info comes from loads that were developed by a very competent member of this forum and tested by Tom Armbrust.
Cheddite 2 3/4" hull
Winchester 209
18.0 grains Green Dot
DR-16 wad
7/8 oz. lead shot
FPS 1,273 PSI 10,233
Cheddite 2 3/4" hull
Federal 209A
20.0 grains Green Dot
DR-16 wad
3/4 oz. lead shot
FPS 1,485 PSI 9,966 |

Yes but is it the old black lid green dot or newer green lid green dot? There is a difference the newer green lid is hotter by a full grain
Green lid green dot
Depends on your reloader bushing and lot of powder but ~15.5-16.2 gr. has always been a good load with the DR16 for me and 7/8 oz loads. |

With the listed price for the wads I believe i can get by fine with what I use for 7/8oz loads. In the RP game load hulls that I have on hand( a couple buckets worth) the claybuster 7/8oz wads work great. In my 2 5/8" cheddite hulls I use the SG16 wad with an over shot card on top and they work great.

I agree on the black Remingtons and the Claybuster7/8 oz wad. And with Unique Powder, of which I have a pretty good stash. |
