| If I could post pics , I still wouldn't ! The little , retired Davis ssoooo wants to go chase a Pheas , but so not able to !! If I could , I'd be using some of those new Perfect Pattern loads .... hhmmmm !? |

Some from this year grouse hunting in Canada and Mn. Arrowhead.
28" 16 ga. Iside first day
Started with a 16 ga. basic Iside. When I find something that works I have a tendency to stick with it and I shoot the Isides lights out
Also custom ordered a 30" Iside. In 16 of course
Bull moose crossed the road in front of me the first day heading in to hunt a spot
Was a good year but like always goes too fast. |

I prefer the pre 55 myself 55 is the year they dropped the hand checkering and added the Raybar front sight. But have nothing against them I own 37's from prewar up to the current production in Upper Sandusky. And even Kings Ferry when they moved up the Lake for a few years.
~10 years ago someone found me a 16 ga. 26" IC 37 which was my first shotgun growing up. Pretty sure you took this picture in your garage. I said I'll take it!
Never did figure out what the tar like substance was under the finish and took half a dozen soaks in acetone to get it out of the wood. But was well worth it. Thanks!
16 ga. 1962 37RVD stock finish is original but was choked full so had Briley install thinwalls in it to make a decent clays gun. |

I traded back into my 1951 16ga M37 this year, noticed a bit of a crack on one side at the frame so it's time to repair, but also saw that there's some pretty wood under the finish as well. It looks like it was refinished at some point, or more directly as if part of it was refinished as there are areas on both sides appearing of a different shade if not thickness of finish. Like it had rested in water or a damp case which wound up taking off some finish or requiring reapplication in those areas. Where it's heavier, it looks very heavy. Should be interesting when done. |
