Stevens model 520 16 ga. Marketed by Montgomery Wards as the Western Field model. The markings are still on the receiver, if light due to polishing prior to a rebluing. This is a double hump model with the safety at the rear of the trigger guard. In excellent condition, reblued about 20 years ago and little used since then. I got into sea ducking on the ocean shortly after getting this gun and wouldn’t take it out in the salt, ergo its relatively slight use.
There is slight freckling on the top of receiver visible under strong light. The pump slide and barrel show almost no wear at all.

27 inch barrel in improved cylinder. Length of pull is a standard 13 ⅞. Chamber is 2 ¾”. Stock is original and shows little to no wear, no dings or nicks, with a clean oil finish as does the cylindrical checkered fore-end; the buttplate is original and in excellent condition.

With it’s double hump and safety in the back of the trigger guard, this gun shows a manufacture date of 1938-1940 (1938 was when the safety was moved to that location; 1940 was when the double hump was replaced by the straight topped 520A).

The 520 is also well known as a quick take-down model as the barrel and pump tube come off the receiver very easily, and lock up for use firmly. See the first photo in the GI listing for this.

Overall a fine example of the later model double hump Stevens 520 in relatively rare 16 ga.

I've got the same exact gun in 16 ga. Bouaght couple years ago. Gave 200.00$ for it. Bad thing is parts. Several changes with them . Many parts ha as time went by they used some same parts and many revamped parts.
