I'm once again extending an invitation for you to hunt wild pheasants in beautiful South Dakota for this upcoming season.

Bird numbers will again be excellent since we had good winter holdover numbers and favorable nesting conditions. I was just there fishing Lake Oahe and saw lots of birds along the roads and in the fields. Broods of chicks are now being seen regularly.

This is my ELEVENTH YEAR of offering my house to hunters coming from all over the country. I have mostly repeat guys who stay from 5-20 nights hunting.

I provide excellent indoor accommodations for your hunting dogs in the dog barn and garage.

Indoor bird cleaning area with designated bird freezer adds to the great amenities provided.

References are gladly furnished upon request. I have guys come from all over the USA.

If you have been thinking of hunting the pheasant mecca that South Dakota is famous for send me a message so I can answer questions and give you all the details. Please include your phone number so I can give you a call.

October is FULL

November is FULL

The following dates are LODGING ONLY so you provide your own food:

December 14-18 --- two spots reserved so 6 spots available --- $490 per person

50% down is required to reserve your spots.

Not wanting to be casting any aspersions here but...it'll take some fairly stout souls to be bird hunting there by the 15th of December.

It's usually "real" winter up there by then.

Thanks for the inputs and warnings Wink I've hunted long enough to understand weather is unpredictable no matter where you are.

South Dakota is no different. I have seen 18" of snow the opening week of pheasant season in October. I've experienced ten days of blizzard starting November 9th. We had 30+mph winds blowing snow white out. I've also had periods of sweatshirt temps in December. Yes I've had single digit temps in December but when it's cold it's not usually snowing. I can always warm up in the truck. I can also enjoy the warm comfortable house. I can dry wet clothes in the dryer. Never a bad day Smile

Personally I've had some fantastically awesome hunting on snowy days in December! Eight to 10" of snow covering the grass and cover. Dogs scent the birds under the snow. Holding point! Birds busting out exploding through the snow. Great memories.

Birds are bunched up in cover. Tracks everywhere. Good scenting for dogs.

Experience days hunting pheasants while other guys are reading books about hunting, watching the "View", Dr. Phil or watching manly football.

It's not for everyone...but can also be your BEST days in the field hunting.

Oh yeah...I don't see anyone crying in the photographs. Ha! The guy with the Cockers is 81 years old. He usually comes out again in January for 10 days. I think hunters are hunters...others miss out.

Nobody forces or guilts anyone to come out. I have two guys who are booked to hunt Dec 14-18. My offer is for anyone who wants to also give it a go. Man up for a good time Wink

You made a valid point …. It does take a stout person to hunt roosters mid December and Bobby also made some valid points that there is some fine hunting late season if you are “stout” enough
I assume the reason the house is closed up mid December is that there are not enough Stout individuals to keep it open
