1959 , 12 years old. Dad let me take his 16 mod 12 for rabbits. Then shot a mod 12 12ga at 16 yrs old on trap. Realized I shot much better on Mod 12 16ga at trap . Been shooting 16 every since. Added couple more also. Still have the 12 ga but never shoot it.

I was orienting incoming freshman at Bemidji State U in N MN. One of the greatest hunting colleges ever, Ducks deer grouse walleyes crappies.

I shot a Rem 870 12 ga mod at almost everything. I had my Grampas 16 ga single that I used about one day a year for grouse. Still do.

Gentlemen its great to hear your responses,
I have an interesting tale to tell about that old A5 12ga with full choke barrel, funny how you can remember some shots you took , I will never forget the shot I had with it where I had couple of my freinds sons out they were only watching, we were hiding in cover in an old derelict farm yard when this well up crow came over the top of the rusted corrigated iron roof I had a really good shot on it and it folded dead , fast forward about 35 year and I was watching Northern Ireland House of the year show on tv when it showed this really nicely restored farm cottage, I took one look at it and said to the wife I know where that is I shot a Crow over the top of that house years ago , that was a really weird moment,
Thanks again for all your responses, hope it brought back some good memories , all the best WJ.

Another memory that this date triggers for me...I was driving a Limelight 1970 Dodge Super Bee then, 383 Magnum 4-speed car (w/the pistol grip shifter). It was about then that I had consigned it for sale on a small used-car lot in Pleasantville, Pennsylvania so I could buy a pickup truck to haul all of our possessions west (as we were leaving Pennsylvania for a new life as a married couple).

My...how things have evolved since then.
