Thanks Putz. Both powders look and smell fine to me. The one in the black lid jug has green dots in the powder and the one in the cardboard keg does not. Maybe that was a change Alliant made?

| The comments got me wondering- does the Green Dot that I've been using for years have Green Dots in it? I recall seeing lots of Blue Dots in Blue Dot and even Tan Dots in Clay Dot- but I checked my old 15 pound cannister of Hercules Green Dot. I saw a few flakes that might have been green, but it may have been imagination- I guess the old green Dot either had faded dots or probably, no green dots. |

| The Green Dot I have used and have on hand, all had or has green flakes in it. Sometimes the flakes were as green as a traffic signal, other times you really had to look at it. |

| I recently bought a new mec 9000gn in 16 gauge and loaded 7/8 ounce lead using the mec powder bushing #28. First I used old Green Dot and the average weight was ~ 15.1 gr. The chronograph averaged ~1200 fps for 10 rounds. Next I used the new Green Dot and the average weight was ~ 15.4 gr. The chronograph averaged ~1230 fps for 10 rounds. There is a difference between the two. But the new works for me with 7/8 ounce for trap. |

| I was using the older purple herters hulls with cheddite primers and the DR 16 wad. Lead load was #8's. I also tested some blue fiocchi hulls - no real difference than the purple herters. |

I'm doing same load except 15.9-16.0gn greendot. My chrono of 4 shells was 1150fps with sd 22. So a little more powder than you and a little slower speeds. Chrony F1.
I am now using same load but sg16 wad. |

| Dave AZ - I just want to clarify. Did you use the DR16 in the 4 shells at ~1150 fps? Or the SG16 wad? Today I rechecked the old green dot load and it did register ~ 1200 fps. |

That was with the DR16 wad.
I am now also loading same recipe with SG16 too. Those chronographed around 1209 I think. |
