Many early 16 ga Auto-5's have been converted from 2 9/16" chambers to 2 3/4" Some of them are not properly converted and give the owner some trouble. It's important to know what to look for if your considering buying a 16 ga A5 made before WW2.
Here is a link to the best post ever made on the difference between short and long chambered 16 ga Auto-5's As you will see, lengthening the chamber is the easy part. This post was written by Keith Groen. Keith has owned a number of short and long chambered and converted guns. His post will prevent some headaches.
