You may be interested in the April 2007 F&S article by Philip Boujaily, an author/coumnist I like (his Dad, Vance, wrote for outdoor publications decades ago). The column is entitled"My Dream Gun--Shotguns to Get If Money Is Not An Issue"and is on page 32.
All of the shotguns he mentions are of course first class, but under "Budget" guns ( for a list price of $4400, he states!), he cites the Merkel 1620 and offers several remarks, but I highlight the following:"...The 1620 is made for pheasant hunting; the 16 ga. barrels on a 20 ga. frame give it the feel of a smallbore with the punch of a bigger gun....
As if we didn't already know--not that we need any vindication of our SxS choice, but it's a nice tribute nonetheless...to the gun AND the gauge... |
