Does anyone have a auto safety rod for a 12 or 16 gauge Sterlingworth? Mike

Mike- a friend has a restocked Sterlingworth that is missing the safety rod. I am sure the hole is not drilled either. I have three Sterlingworths of my own, but don't want to take the stock off them if avoidable. So rather than experimenting with the length of the rod, I thought I'd ask about one. Are the measurements you sent exact? I will make one and drill the hole.

I have taken the stocks off of quite a number of Sterlingworths, and can probably do it blindfolded! Thanks very much for the response! Mike

The rod just looks like a box nail with the point cut off! I have the one for my 20ga (previous owner disabled the auto safely). I'd like to reinstall it but have never taken the stock off and can't seem to work up enough guts to do it Crying or Very sad !

The rods in my 12 bores just look like a polished up 6d finish nail with no point. The ones in my 16's have a larger box nail type end as Fin previously noted. What thats telling me is that when you drill the hole for the rod, you can only get so close to where it needs to be and the larger head makes up for some misalignment on the small frame guns. Wish I had seen this post sooner, just had one of the 16's apart yesterday and have never checked the lengths on the rods. You might try the Fox Collectors website for more specific info.
