I can buy 100 packs of fiocchi hulls with the 616 primer for $11.99. is this a fair price? Where do I find reloading data for these hulls or are these the cheddite type?

Are you kidding?
If they are in a shot size you use, buy them all!! And fast.
Reloading them shouldn't be a problem, but if it is so what. That is $3 a box, when lead and ammo is going through the roof.

I'm new to this reloading. Found a load for these hulls in the Lyman book. Just got it in the mail. Longshot powder 23.5 grams, 616 primer, Rem. sp16 wad, velocity 1284, psi 7300. I'll be using these for grouse and chukars at the pheasant run. I can get everything in one spot. I decided on 500 hulls as they are $10.99 a hundred then, 500 wads for $20.00. 10 lbs of 7.5 shot for $26.00, and I'll need a MEC powder bushing for $2.99. Should I get the spreaders for these? Thank you.

I misread your post and I thought that was loaded shells.
Sorry!
I personally stay away from the Fiocchi hulls, as the primers are slightly larger than the W209's which I use. If you buy Fiocchi primers anyway then that will not be a problem for you.
I also had trouble with the hulls sticking in one of my guns.
I like the post spreaders vs. the "X" type spreaders because they can be loaded on a progressive and they make for really nice crimps.
I do like the Ballistic Prod. green hulls they sell. I think they are Cheddites.

OH,

I've used quite a few Fiocchi hulls. THey have worked fine. They have the same internal dimensions as the Cheddite Hull which is Fiocchi's company in France.

Fiocchi actually owns Cheddite, but in one of those laws that goes all the way back to pre-WW II, any arms or ammo company that is in France must manufacture under the French name and cannot manufacturer it's products under the foreign name.

THe Fiocchi 616 and Cheddite 209 Primers are slightly larger in dimension than American made 209's. I have found that I can usually use a standard 209 for about three loadings before I need to go to the larger size primer.

Another tip I picked up from one of the Ballistics techs at Hodgdon Powder. The Fiocchi's are a steel case and since steel will not return to original size like brass will, there will be incidents where the case is hard to extract from the gun and times when they are VERY HARD to resize.

A little bit of resizing lubricant for metallic cases applied with a Q-tip to the inside of your sizer will enable the resizer to fully resize the case and prevent sticking. I have found that I can do about a box of shells between applications.

Also, your resizer needs to be adjusted so that it is fully resizing the case head. If you can see a small ridge at the bottom of the case head, it is not being fully resized, and this will cause the case to stick in the gun and may create chambering problems.

Hope this helps.

Load up all my hunting loads with Fiocci hulls (16ga) have found that the Win 209 primers stay in. Have had CCI and Feds fall out. Also seem to get better ignition with the Wins over the Fiocci 616s late season during nasty weather duck hunting, temps in the teens.
