Introducing James, a neighborhood kid who is holding his great grandfathers 16 ga Auto-5.

It was a wreck and I agreed to do a restoration on it if James helped every step of the way. We dry fitted the wood for this picture. We had just finished the second wet sanding of the wood and James took the wood home to keep building up the finish. We hope to do a final assembly in a week.
James is already an accomplished shooting birds over his fathers GSP's. He has been shooting a 12 ga citori or a Rem 1100, the A5 will give him a little class, and having torn it down to the last piece he'll appreciate it.
He's learning clays now....watch out for the next generation of 16 ga shooters!

Hey Jeff,
Looking pretty darn good there. I was following the work in progress. That is one lucky kid to have his great grandad's gun and someone like you to help him learn about it while fixing it up. They could have just boxed it up and sent it off, but I think he will appreciate it a lot more after putting the work into it.

Congratulations on a great story. Not only does that gun have history, it just made some more history.
And James... welcome aboard. Use it in good health. |

Jeff,
Good for you taking the time to help out a kid with the interest to help. Hope he has a good time using that old gun when it is finished. |
