Glad to have you here. This is interesting and fun. I have always favored the 16 too and have gotten back into it ina big way since I got tangled up with these cats.

Thanks every one. I had on old pump gun. I sold because shells were getting hard to come by. Now I have a Winchester 24 that I plan on using for upland bird hunting. and I plan on getting a few more 16s.

One would say I have the fever.

Hey, great to hear you have a new Model 24 there. I am in Iraq and about two weeks from heading home. I have one sitting at my FFL that I bought on AA. Can't wait to shoot it. I will contact you to compare experience and get advice when I get there. It is my first SxS. These guys have convinced me that I will never make the big time until I try one with the barrels the wrong way Twisted Evil

As RevDocDrew might say, "What made you stray from the fold, my son? Did the devil prevail that 20ga is better?" Rolling Eyes

Welcome home son. How heavy is that M 24? How long are the barrels?

At the time it was really hard to find shells and hulls to reload for the 16 So I traded that one to a friend for an Ithaca 37 12 ga. and never got another 16 gauge gun until recently. Yes I really missed not having a 16 but I never found one.

That was until I came across a good deal on the M24 it was made in 1941 and has 28" barrels F & M chokes and weighs about 6 pounds. And since I was looking for a SxS at the timing couldn't have been better.
