Gents
Can you use 2 1/2" shells in a M37 chambered for 2 3/4"? Sorry if this is a daft question but I had shot for over 30 years before I tried anything other than a shotgn with 2 barrels Embarassed

I now have M37s in 20 and 12 but only use standard length cartridges so have had no experience if the extractors and feed mechanism work with a shorter shell. I'm hoping to add a 16 to the lineup but most of my 16 gauge shells are 2 1/2 and I would expect to buy a M37 with 2 3/4 chamber - and want to make sure that it will work.

Many thanks!

Ross

Eley V.I.P 2 1/2 inch low pressure loads work just fine in my Ultra featherlight.

That is more than I can say for the Australian loaded Winchester 2 3/4 promos. The steel base hangs up in the chamber here and there. Not often, but, enough to bug me.
Best,
Ted

Kiwi,

It's no different than shooting a 2 3/4" shell in a 3" chamber in a 12 or 20 gauge. Doesn't hurt a thing.

Ted,

I also had a problem with the Aussie Win. steel rim expansion. Tried a couple boxes in my A5 and they would hang up so much that the gun would fail to eject and jamb about every 2nd or 3rd shot. The rims on the empties had expanded so much I could barely push them back into the chamber with my thumb. Shocked Maybe it was that particular lot of shells, I've never bought them again. The gun has never, ever malfunctioned with any other shell including my reloads.

In case anyone is wondering, my A5 has a 2 3/4" chamber.

Ted, Dennis, Captain - thank you. Now I have the ammunition all I need is the gun to put it in!
