Posted this on the Reloaders Group no takers, so I will try here.

I like some of the lower pressure loads for 2 1/2" hulls and was
wondering if I can subsitute roll crimp when it calls for a 6 pt. crimp
and will I increase the psi much by using the overshot cards?
I will be using the same componants, just changing the crimp.

Also on a couple of the loads it states Bizmuth, can lead shot be
sutsituted for it and will anything change as far as psi?

Thanks in advance.

Yes you can substitute a roll crimp for a 6 point crimp.
Pressure will "normally" be lower with a roll crimp, even with an O.S. card.
Have no idea what to tell you on the Bismuth.

Thanks Dave. I saw a few of the loads on the spreadsheet for 16 ga and the one I liked was a nice low pressure load around 4733, I thiink it is the 8th one down under Cheddite hulls, using 7/8 oz Bizmuth. That's why I asked if you could subsitute lead.

Also I posted about the low pressure 20 ga. I couldn't open it up in that spreadsheet, I would have to buy Excel or find a free subsitute to open it.
Do you have any receipes for low pressure loads? I have some 20 ga AA's that I could cut down or buy some Cheddite 2 1/2" hulls. Like you stated "why not reload them instead of buying the Polywads."
Thanks.

David,
I would do a search on the net, for a free program that will open Excel files.
The 16 gauge LPG has lots of good info that is in Excel format.
You really need to view the 20 gauge data for yourself, and decide what loads you wish to try.

David, is this the Bismuth load that uses 19 grains of Longshot?
I have a very similar load at home for 3/4 oz. and 7/8 oz.
Let me get back with you tonight, I'm at work and most of my data is at home. The Good RevDocDrew has shot both of these loads, and can add his opinion on these loads if he so wishes. Wink

Yes it is Dave, 19 grains of Longshot, 7/8 oz of Bismuth with a 6 point crimp. Would like to use lead and roll crimp. In some of the loads it lists 3-.040 overshot cards. I was able to find .030 OSC and asked Russ if useing 3 of the .030 cards would be fine and he replied yes. I see that there is a place right here in Pa. that sells .025 OSC, and .070 OSC, I might have to buy some. I would like to find some 1/8" OSC that would take the place of the 3-.040 OSC.

Microsoft has a free Excel viewer available for download on their website. Go to Downloads and search for 'excel viewer'. It allows you to view and do limited work on Excel spreadsheets without having the full program.

Dave M, thanks for the information. I will add that to my receipe list. I wasn't sure about the difference in pressures.
Again thanks.

I was able to open up the 20 ga spreadsheet. I found a site that would let me download Microsoft Excel 2003. It works. I might look for a never version, but this is good.

Roadkill, thanks for the information, but lilke I had posted to Dave M. I found a a 2003 version. Again thanks for the time and help.
