Uphunter...
Get one. You won't regret it. They are difficult to find in 16 gauge, but worth searching for. I found mine at Cabelas 4 years ago and bought it immediately.
Get some "light loads" for range practice, and put a kickeze or limbsaver pad on the gun, as the plastic factory pad is worthless. Use regular field loads for hunting, as you will not be shooting enough shells in a day to tag you very much.
I have used this gun for long walking days afield hunting quail, chuckars and pheasant. It is a light carry, points and handles most crisply, and is plenty of gun to be deadly on the biggest ol' roosters! It has become my "go to" gun for all upland shooting, even though I have some higher grade shooters in the safe.
Price? I paid $1790.00 NIB in 2002. This is still about the going price for a new 12 or 20 model. I suspect the superior and rarer 16 would go for around $2000.00 or a little more...

You can also look at the Citori Feather in 16ga. A number of them around on the net to locate. Just over 6lbs. I use mine for trap and clays all the time. It was used for upland and was a dream to carry until I went over to the dark side X side. |

Personally, I have strong feelings about alloy guns and would never buy one. Especially when you can find a 16GA Citori Superlight that will fit the bill nicely in an all steel configuration which is proven to be much more durable. The weight savings between the two is insignificant to most people. I think the 16GA Superlight weighs in at about 6.2-6.5 LBS. As an added bonus the Superlight is also less money and can be found used from 1000.00 - 1700.00 and new for about 1599.00 - 1799.00. |

I've had a Superlight Feather since 2003, and it is my go-to gun for everything from woodcock to pheasants. Fantastic to carry on those long days in SD, and for maneuvering through the alder thickets in MI. I found that 1oz loads are ,by far, more comfortable to shoot than even the 1 1/8 oz loads, especially on my cheek. I hate to rekindle this issue, but I think it has to do with the geometry of the O/U and how it transmits recoil as compared to a SxS. |

By all means a 16ga. citori. Mine is a field grade lightning. It can be hard to find them as they aren't a catalog item any more. Browning does produce them in small number's in various grades for certain wholesaler's. Check Bill Hanus Birdguns http://www.billhanusbirdguns.com/index.html If you can't find one I may be able to help. We have a number of Brownings comeing in any day. I don't know what will be included in the shipment. I also have a 20ga. Gran Lightning with your eyes closed you can't tell one from the other. |
