I have never used a Winchester Super-X 1 1/8th ounce load, I have a pet load using Winchester Compression formed hulls and Remington SP wads for the few 1 1/8th ounce loads I shoot each year. The 1621 is used in the 1 ounce and a number of 1 1/8th ounce reloads but I would think that the Gualandi 1618 would be a better fit for an ounce and 1/8th.. |

The better question is if there is any loading data available for these wads. If I remember correctly, substituting wads can significantly change the pressure of a load. I would be hesitant to just shove anything into a hull without knowing what effect it would have on the pressure. Maybe loading data will follow. At least it will be nice to have another choice.Maybe some of the guys from the low pressure group can add to this thread. They seem to know a lot about reloading. |

I bought some of the Cheddite wads to try. They will be best suited for heavy loads. The 1 1/8 oz. wad should be great for 1 1/4 oz. loads.
My 1 1/4 oz. loads using the Rem sp16 or the Gual. G28 have always been a really tight fit, resulting in a few crushed hulls, but with this wad I was able to load 1 1/4 oz. of 4's over Long Shot powder in a Cheddite hull with plenty of room. The shot even had a little rattle to it.
Next I'll try to work up a 1 oz. and a 1 1/8 oz. load with the 1 oz. wads. |
