I just ordered a GECO sxs 16bore. Looks a lot like my old Merkel M8 from the photos and seems to be in fine shape. Looking for any information or critical comments of these.
It's choked F/F so a trip to open it up a bit will probably be in order as I expect to use it on quail for the most part.
Thanks in advance,

Geco is an East German make. Made side by side with the Simpsons, and Merkels, post WWII. I think the only difference between a Geco and a Merkel is fit and finish. Otherwise, they lock up stronger than a bank vault.
Full and Full usually means "Fuller" and "Fuller". Open those chokes up, and enjoy the gun. |

Thanks for the information, PPG. Just what I thought.
Also would add, that is a fine looking JP Sauer in the above post!

Just got the barrels back from Mike Orlean. Had them both opened to light mod and the forcing cones lengthened and polished. He did great work with a speedy turnaround.
I installed a Galazan thin pad and will put a new coat of finish on it asap.
Took it to the pattern board with some No. 8s and got some great patterns that both shoot centered on the bead at 25 yards.
I know this is not a super high quality boxlock, but the bluing is great, the case is about 95% or better, it locks like a vault, the wood has some pretty good figure and it fits me very well. I just KNOW it's gonna be a death ray in the dove fields and from behind my setter on quail! So how long is it til September-October?
