If you can live with 1 1/16 oz. you can get B&P delivered to your door (free shipping) for $7.96 per box. It comes in 8 box flats (200 shells/flat). |

I can still run to Dick's or Kmart and pick up either Rem Game loads or Winchester Game loads for around $4-$5 bucks a box. That's the way I'd go. |

I use the B&P now but they are 2 5/8 shells. My gun patterns well with #8 shot, I chase chicken, huns and quail over dogs where most are taken under 30yds.
I'm down to 4 box B&P, tried to order some last week but they are out of stock, no backorder date. Like to explore my options test the loads before the season. |

I bought the Remington 1200 fps 16 gauge 1 ounce loads at Dick's Sporting Goods locally for $3.77 (with 10% off for a 10 box "case" purchase) two weeks ago. Only problem is that they are all 7 1/2's at our store. Not as good as B&P but an alternative. |

The 16 gauge Remington Game/Field Loads are not premium shells. Okay for high volume shooting at close ranges perhaps, but for performance, the B&P make sense. A few boxes of these premium shells will last quite awhile. |

For late season Arizona Quail I use Federal Hi-Brass 1 1/8 oz # 7 1/2, 3 1/4 dram eq. Muz Vel 1295 fps. I bought a case from Wall-Mart a while back. They are a stout load and I only use them in my 870/16. I believe they are about $7.99 a box. Some day I would like to duplicate this as a hand load.
This might be the load you are looking for. |

Guess your talking dove and quail with the #8 shot. Think I'd go with the 1 oz. Rem. game loads as thats about all it takes for the small birds. |

Yep, if you want to go 1 1/8, that one by Federal and the Rem Express of the same numbers are the way to go. Got 'em both, but prefer the Rem Express by a whisker. |

The Arizona Quail season starts in October and ends in February. By the end of the season the Gambrel Quail are so wild from being hunted it is very hard to get them to hold. Most shots are forty plus yards. I use a hawk call and try an get them to hold, sometimes it works. Some of the area we hunt in is impossible for Dogs very rocky and lots of Cholla cactus. We have sometimes spent a majority of the hunt tending to dogs feet. |
