Hi all, Getting my new Uggie soon, the problem is its choked .008 and .025. I really don't want it choked that tight. I'd like to get it choked IC and Mod. I know the .008 is a tight IC, but want it a stright IC.
My question is what choke constrictions should I get?
Thanks so much!!!!

I would send it to Mike Orlen with your desire to have IC/Mod and it will come back that way. It will be the best $70 you can spend with confidence of getting what you pay for. The .001 difference in the IC barrel is probably not noticeable since different ammo can make that much difference. I would opt for $35 and change the mod barrel only. which ever way you decide Mike is the man.
Best,
Ron |

Everyone says that UPS takes longer than Mr. Orlen. Still, the closer to season opener, the busier he should be. |

I heartily concur with the above recommendations. Mike did the barrels on my Stevens 5100, and bent the stock on my Citori, and the turn time was about a week - and most of that was UPS there and back! But that was also during the "off season".
His work is outstanding, and his turn-around time phenomenal! |

Can't add much other than Mike is faster than any gunsmith I have ever delt with. One was my friend and one was a neighbor and Mike was/is faster than either one. Send it and I would bet it will be fine.
Best,

Never thought of that!! Good idea. The seller still has the gun its Steve Barnett.
Does anyone know if he is capable of this or does he just sell only?
Thanks!!!!!!!

Just occured to me. If he does this I own the gun as is with no right to return if the gun is not right. I'll just wait and have Mark do it.
Thanks!!

I don't think Steve's set up to do choke work. Also, I would get the gun and shoot it for a while before I did anything!
My opinon. YMMV.

Not to mess with the trend of this thread but, if it was me, I'd get the gun, shoot it a bit at typical distances and also take a bang at the pattern board before I sent it away. I'm not knocking Mike, I have a 28" Sterlingworth that he opened up to IC and Skeet and it's a dandy grouse gun that throws an even pattern. I'd still shoot it first, just to be sure. |

Listen to Fred. Shoot it first. see where it patterns with your favorite shell. Then, if you want the chokes opened, send the pattern along with the barrels. Just my version of the scientific thing to do.
For what it's worth. |
