I own a 1900 12ga. Bought 36 yrs ago. Dealer told me it was etch pattern on barrel, not damascus. I was 15 yrs old, believed the story,,,shot thousands of shells thru it,,some VERY big shells. You couldn't force me to pick up any other shotgun then. Stopped shooting it about 6 yrs ago. Realized all those yrs, I had been shooting a damascus. Had no problems though. Maybe lucky,,,
Still own the gun, but don't shoot any more,,sigh,,,,surrendered to carrying lighter 16ga and 20ga.
You will love that 1900 sxs. Best shooting shotgun EVER to hit me on the shoulder. I miss shooting mine. |

That is a cool story and I am pleased to hear how durable these guns are. Now that I have a 1900 on the way I keep my eye out for them. I went to pick up my Beretta from the gunsmith and there was a 12ga in the rack that they had just picked up. I think it was the low grade 1894 because it had a push rod release fore end, almost made an offer...
I just got the Remington Shotgun book in the mail as well as the Lyman reloading book. The Remington book turned out to be a limited edition signed by the author. Pretty cool deal and a wealth of information in there. Thanks much to who ever posted that link.

recently checked the barrels with dye pentrant (under the forearm where the twist fades) and I could not confirm that the barrels are twist.
SN is 194xxx range.

Bachelder's in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is held in pretty high esteem by a few guys around here. They do a lot of work on old doubles. The fixed a broken stock on my 1936 Fulton quite well, at a reasonable price, and quickly.
