I was given this gun by a friend who knew of my addiction. It is not the prettiest girl at the dance, but pretty is as pretty does.

I have done a search of the site, and am looking for info on how to breakdown the gun, find the year of mfg, etc.

Can anyone point me in a direction.

Thanks

The fore piece snaps off, then move the barrel release lever to the side and lift the barrel from the frame. to assemble reverse the above.

To expose the innerds, the stock must be removed.

Muleshoe;

Brownell's makes a spring kit for the 311's. In the kit you get reduced cocking springs, 2 sets of hammer springs and a reduced lever spring. $29.00.

As the piece is a 311A I would expect the hammer springs might be soft with age. If you get intermittent ignition and light primer hits the spring may be the cause. Also you can get new firing pins from brownells.

I shoot a 311H for Cowboy Action. The barrel is cut to 18 1/2", spring kit installed, chamber mouths chamfered and chambers polished. Loading & unloading is very quick. I load both barrels at the same time.

The 311 is built like a tank and can take heavy abuse.
