I am brand new to the site. I just got my first 16ga. It is a 1911 Parker Brothers 16ga built on a 20ga frame. It has 26" barrels with Improved & modified chokes.
I have used it hunting Ducks, Geese, Pheasants, Sharptail,s, Ruffed Grouse, and Rabbits.
I have never shot a 16 before this one, and it is by far my favorite gauge.
I just wanted to say hi to everyone.

So Steve,
Tell me about your Parker.
What grade is it?
Damascus barrels?
I have a few 16 gauge Parkers, most with Damascus barrels.
And I shoot the heck out of them.
Welcome to the site also.
Regards, Dave Miles |

My Parker is a VH grade. It has steel barrels, and is on a 20ga frame. I love it, but it kicks a little being on the "O" frame. Its is a sweet little gun. A good friend of mine in Maryland got it for me.
I also bought my dad a 12ga Parker with 30" barrels Mod and full chokes. It was made in 1901. It has steel barrels and is a VH grade. My dad took it to Canada this year and did some work with it on ducks and geese.

Steve, you're gun being built in 1911 probably has 2-9/16" chambers. Unless someone opened them up. Shooting heavy game loads will kick you pretty good, plus it's not real good for the stock. If your doing allot of shooting, you might want to consider RST shells. Unless you reload. http://www.rstshells.com/shells-best.htm
I shoot several hundred rounds a weekend threw my 0 frame 16's with no problem. Keep your loads at 1 oz. or less and under 9000 psi, and it will be much more enjoyable shooting. |
