It has been an absolutely great rooster season here in MN. Enough birds to keep things interesting around home and within a couple hour drive you can find excellent numbers. Early November found Duey,my son and I working a WMA with a perfect edge of grass and the occasional willow patch. The birds held tight and Duey pointed two of the four bagged. My Citori 16 paired with Fiochi # 5's were a perfect combination, improved on the bottom and modified on the top. Still trying to talk Joey into a OU in the perfect gauge, but he is young and naive, still shooting an auto loader 12

Looking forward to December and the cattails and longtails. |

Nice shots! Joey reminds me of me at that age. Bigger gauge, bigger gun! Don't give up on him yet. Is that a Benelli he's using? Be nice if they made on in 16ga.

Good eye, yes a Montefeltro. He just got it this early fall. He recently became a full time Police Officer and bought himself a new shotgun for the bird season. He shoots it fairly well but I think he relies to much on the ability to fill the air with lead instead of concentrating on the 1st shot. There is a fair amount of good natured ribbing back and forth when we are in the field together. I really cherish these days and hope I am around to bring a grandchild with someday. |
